PLACES TO PADDLE
A calm 55-acre lake in the pines just outside Prescott. Rent from us in Mesa, about 2 hours away.
THE LAKE
Lynx Lake is a 55-acre mountain lake set in ponderosa pine forest just outside Prescott, Arizona. Its small size, forest setting and motor limits make it calmer than many of the big desert lakes, which makes it a favorite for kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, trout fishing and wildlife viewing.
Launch from the North Shore near the Lynx Lake Store and Marina or the South Shore boat ramp, then paddle the coves and quiet fishing spots. Watch for osprey, bald eagles, great blue herons, deer and javelina. Rent your kayak or paddleboard at Redline in Mesa, about 2 hours and 10 minutes from the lake.
PLAN YOUR TRIP
Boats are limited to electric motors or gas engines of 10 hp or less, so the water stays calm. Because the lake is small, you can easily paddle between the north and south shores and explore its coves and quiet fishing spots.
Lynx Campground is near the lake, with 35 single and 4 double sites, picnic tables, fire rings, grills, restrooms and drinking water. Hilltop Campground is about half a mile south, with 38 sites that fit many RVs, but you’ll carry your boat down to the lake.
Water levels can affect launch access, and part of the area is closed for nesting bald eagles December 1 through June 30. Check Forest Service alerts before your trip.
Every rental from Redline includes paddles, life jackets, foam roof blocks and tie-down straps, and we help you load up. No roof rack needed. Rent 2 days and the 3rd day is free. See rental rates or read our rental FAQs.
