HOW IT WORKS

A night on the water

1Pick up your gearCollect your kayak or paddleboard, life jackets, paddles, glow sticks and safety lights at our Mesa shop. We help load and strap everything to your vehicle. Pickup starts at 3pm in April and October, 4pm in September and 5pm May through August.

2Join the glow paddlePaddle alongside other kayakers and paddleboarders under the full moon. Most people gather at Butcher Jones, but you can pick any spot.

3Return your gearBring everything back to the shop by 7pm in April and October, 8:30pm in September and 9:30pm May through August.

This is a self-guided rental and community meetup, not a guided tour. Redline is a rental shop in Mesa; transportation is not included.

Full moon paddle questions

When are full moon paddles?

The Friday and Saturday before each full moon, April through October. If the full moon falls on a Friday or Saturday, we paddle that weekend. In 2027: Apr 16–17, May 14–15, Jun 18–19, Jul 16–17, Aug 13–14, Sep 10–11 and Oct 15–16.

How much is a full moon rental?

$49 for a single kayak or paddleboard and $69 for a tandem kayak.

What are the hours?

April and October: 3pm to 7pm. May through August: 5pm to 9:30pm. September: 4pm to 8:30pm. Times run from pickup to return at our Mesa shop.

Is this a guided tour?

No. It is a self-guided rental and a community meetup. You pick up your gear in Mesa and drive to the lake.

Where does everyone meet?

Most paddlers gather at Butcher Jones Recreation Site on Saguaro Lake. You are free to choose any location.

What lights do I get?

Every full moon rental includes glow sticks and safety lights so you can see and be seen on the water.

Can I do a sunset paddle instead?

Yes. Sunset paddles run every Friday and Saturday from April through October, on the same seasonal times.
